A Day in Old Saybrook

I've been sitting here the past couple of hours trying to draft up a good "first" post to welcome back this blog into my life but nothing is meeting my expectations and I just want to post SOMETHING so I am going to blog about my Saturday.

Woke up. Made the bed. Fed Peggy. Took a cute pic of her:

Then we headed out for the library. We were on our way to our ~usual~ spot then realized it was going to close in about two hours so we had to quickly decide on a new lib. We decided to check out Old Saybrook's public library instead. On the way there, we drove by through Main Street and I pointed out the cat cafe. We parked at the library and walked to the cat cafe. It was a very enjoyable walk! I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of sidewalks and pedestrian crossings. Lots of historic buildings to look at as well as greenery to provide some shade along the way.

This is a horrible photo but I was trying to get a shot of people chilling in the gazebo. I just feel like there was much thought and care put into the planning of this city.

After a lovely walk, we made it to our destination. It was my bf's first time there. I think he had fun. The last time I was there was post Devi's passing so I was just on the verge of tears the whole time and wanted to adopt every single one of them lol still want to adopt all of them but much more joyful experience.

This is Jack. He is the "spicy cat of the week". Check out those thumbs. Obsessed...

I don't remember this gal's name but she was the fluffiest one there and I just think she has such an adorable face.

This is Petunia. She was the friendliest cat there and followed us everywhere! She let me pet her extensively but she did not like it when I tried to pick her up. ALSO LOOK AT HER THUMBS.

They had a book of all the cats. SOMEONE NEEDS TO GO ADOPT PETUNIA RN.

This is Mini. She kept getting bullied by Petunia. She's sooo cuteeeee.

Afterwards, we stopped by the place next door for some dogs and fries. As you can tell, these hot dogs were absolutely mid (wrong type of bun and not toasted smh) but fries were fantastic. I've yet to find a place that has hot dogs that can replace Frosty Treat's... TBT... RIP... GONE...BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN.

On our walk back to the library I made him stop and take a selfie with me. I splurged on these sunglasses in 2014-2015. I remember posting them on Insta and captioning it "I don't pop molly I rock Tom Ford" sooooooooo cringeeeee lmaooooooooo anyways still going strong a decade later!! Side note: the 15 pounds I've gained? Straight to my face!!! I'm looking so round in photos these days... me no likey. I'm going to post anyways because at least my skin looks good.

Finally we make it to the library!!! Actually got lots of work done. My bf had to borrow my airpods and proceeded to show me this meme afterwards:

Ummmmmm.... rude...........

All in all, it was a good day!!! Old Saybrook is a lovely town! I will definitely be returning to their library!

Takeaways from this post:
  1. Do invest in a nice pair of sunglasses. Don't use Jay-Z lyrics for an Instagram caption.
  2. Cats are amazing.
  3. I am reviving this blog.
